Confirmation

 

The Sacrament of Confirmation is a significant step in the growth and development of every Catholic, necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. At Confirmation, we affirm our commitment to God and the Church and receive a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The grace of this sacrament deepens our faith and brings us into a more abundant life with Christ, and strengthens us to share the love of Jesus Christ with others.

• Children enrolled in Saint Juliana School and our religious education program are formally prepared for the sacrament of Confirmation in seventh and eighth grade. A parent-child meeting is held during the preparation period. Special Confirmation liturgies are held throughout the year for those preparing for the reception of the sacrament, which is celebrated in early May of each year.
• Through Confirmation, our young adults are sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit, and strengthened in their Christian life which began with the sacrament of Baptism. A bishop from the Archdiocese of Chicago concelebrates the liturgy with our priests and deacons, and personally confirms each candidate.
• Adults (age 18+) who are interested in converting to Catholicsm receive instruction and preparation on an individual basis through the Order of Christian Initiation (OCIA) program.
